BTC Options Market Daily Report

Executive Summary

BTC spot extended to the 86.6k area today, up about 6.7% on the day and more than 10% week over week. Price remains firmly above the full daily and 4h EMA 20/50/100/200 stack, so the short-horizon repair has now shifted from “reclaimed trend structure” to “upside extension.”
On the options side, the call wall remains at 90k and the put wall at 85k, putting spot between the two magnets but closer to upside resistance.
Volatility lifted with spot: DVOL rose, the term structure moved higher across the board, and put wings remain rich, but today reads more like a broad surface repricing than a single-tail event.
Block/Combo flow over the last 24 hours flipped to net vega buying, with net delta and net gamma also positive, broadly aligned with listed-options positioning.

Spot vs DVOL (4H)

Both the daily and 4h closes remain above EMA20/50/100/200, so the short- and medium-horizon trend stack is intact. The latest daily close printed at 86.57k with stronger volume, while DVOL closed at 38.14, higher on the day, confirming that volatility did not get suppressed back to the floor during the rally.
From the monthly ATR view, spot is still above both the upper and lower trigger levels and has already traversed about 75.6% of the prior-month ATR range, which places current trade in the upper half of the swing band. The trend label is still neutral, but price has clearly moved away from the earlier repair zone.

Implied vol surface

The listed-options surface is higher and steeper across expiries, with ATM IV roughly in the 33.0% to 40.1% zone. Front and intermediate tenors such as 22SEP26, 23SEP26, and 25SEP26 are notably richer than the back end, so the surface is being lifted rather than showing a single isolated spike.
The term structure still slopes up front-to-back, and both call-side and put-side wings are moving higher, which suggests a broader repricing rather than a localized kink.
Skew remains put-rich: downside wings still command a persistent premium versus comparable call wings, especially in the front and short-intermediate tenors. The main change today is more of a broad lift with a somewhat steeper short end, not a pure re-steepening of downside skew.

DVOL index

DVOL is now 38.14, a meaningful one-day rebound. On a 1Y basis, IV Rank / IV Percentile are about 8.7 / 23.4, still in a low historical band but lifting out of the most compressed zone.
On a 3M basis, Rank / Percentile are roughly 32.0 / 60.7, so the current level is not especially low versus medium history. In other words, DVOL is repairing ahead of further spot extension rather than lagging passively at the floor.

Options chain structure

Expiration

Tap the dots: Expiration · Strike · Tenor

The largest Open Interest (OI) anchor remains 30OCT26, followed by 25SEP26, 25DEC26, and other farther expiries. The key point today is not just front-end congestion but a clear outward shift in positioning into the medium Tenor bucket rollup.
Above spot, the 90k / 95k / 100k call complex still carries the heaviest Open Interest (OI), and the biggest 30OCT26 additions are clustered there. That points to a structure that is still upside-heavy, but with more medium-Tenor bucket rollup absorption than simple short-dated chasing.
Below spot, 80k / 85k / 75k put Open Interest (OI) remains substantial, but the most active fresh protection is concentrated in the 0DTE (expires same calendar day), 1–7D, and 8–30D segments. That says downside hedging remains alive, but it is rotating across the front and short-intermediate buckets rather than dominating the whole chain.

Net greeks turned more supportive of volatility today: net delta moved positive, net vega flipped from selling to buying, and net gamma also turned positive.
The clearest shift came in 25SEP26 and 30OCT26. The former still had very heavy turnover, but positioning was no longer just front-end accumulation; the latter became the key medium-Tenor bucket rollup anchor with clearly buyer-led net vega, gamma, and delta.
By Tenor bucket rollup, 31–90D contributed the largest net transfer, while 1–7D stayed active but no longer dominated one-way. That supports the view that risk is being pushed outward from the very front end.
By strike, the 88k area stood out as the strongest net long-gamma / net long-vega zone, while 90k, 91k, and 100k showed more mixed two-way pressure, indicating active repricing rather than blind upside chasing.

Tap the dots: Block trades · Combo trades

Block and combo prints in the 24 hours through the report snapshot at 00:00 UTC on Sep 22 (rolling window, not the calendar report day).
In this window, Block/Combo net vega turned positive, net delta was positive, and net gamma also stayed positive. The mix was still led by block_only activity, but call spreads, call diagonal calendars, and strangles remained meaningful contributors.
The heaviest activity centered in the 7–30D and 31–90D buckets, while 0DTE (expires same calendar day) and 1–7D participated but did not dominate. That lines up well with the listed-options shift toward 30OCT26, 9OCT26, and 25DEC26.
Cross-checking against the listed chain, the flow is directionally consistent: large prints reinforced the same medium-Tenor bucket rollup shift rather than contradicting it.

2. What Changed vs Prior Session(s)

Spot moved from the 81.16k area to around 86.6k, extending yesterday’s recovery and pushing farther away from the moving-average stack.
On the chain, yesterday was still more front-end led; today 30OCT26 absorbed more Open Interest (OI) and more trading, so positioning clearly rotated outward into the medium Tenor bucket rollup.
On the Greek side, the prior negative-gamma / negative-vega pressure weakened materially, replaced by positive gamma and positive vega support.
On vol, DVOL bounced and the surface repriced higher across the curve; put richness remains, but it is no longer the only story.
Block/Combo also flipped from a more seller-leaning tone to net vega buying, confirming the change in listed-options positioning.

3. Multi-Day Context

Over the past week, BTC has progressed from repair to confirmation and is now in an extension phase.
From Sep 14 through Sep 20, spot methodically repaired from the mid-70k to high-70k zone and reclaimed the moving-average stack. Today it moved materially away from that recovery base, so the market is no longer focused on whether the repair held, but on whether the new up-leg can continue.
The options complex followed the same path: first front-end protection and short-Tenor bucket rollup two-way trade, then heavy 25SEP26 activity, and now a more explicit transfer of Open Interest (OI) and flow into 30OCT26.
Today strengthens the weekly theme of “trend repair followed by full repricing of vol and Tenor bucket rollup structure,” and weakens the earlier front-end suppression / tail-defense feel.

4. Key Levels and Risk Zones

  • Upside call wall: 90k, the first major upside magnet and resistance zone.
  • Upper concentration: 95k and 100k, where 30OCT26 call Open Interest (OI) and additions are thickest.
  • Downside put wall: 85k, still below spot but close enough to matter quickly on a pullback.
  • Secondary downside buffer: 80k, 75k, and 70k, where put Open Interest (OI) remains meaningful across multiple tenors.
  • Volatility risk zone: 25SEP26 and 2OCT26 remain the most responsive near-dated windows if spot stalls or reverses.

5. Scenario Map for Next Session

Scenario 1: Upside extension

If spot holds above 86k and pushes toward 87k/88k, the 90k call wall becomes the next major test.
Watch whether 30OCT26 call Open Interest (OI) continues to build and whether the 88k area keeps attracting long gamma demand.
If DVOL rises while spot stays firm, the market is accepting a richer vol regime, which increases tolerance for extension.

Scenario 2: Rally stalls and price returns to the averages

If spot rejects above 87k and rotates lower, the 85k put wall is the first key level to watch.
In that case, short-dated hedging demand in 25SEP26 and 2OCT26 may re-accelerate, and short-end skew could steepen again.
If price pulls back but still holds EMA20/50, the move would look more like consolidation after extension than trend failure.

Scenario 3: Volatility leads price

If spot goes sideways while DVOL continues higher, the front and intermediate IV buckets may continue to reprice, especially 25SEP26, 2OCT26, and 9OCT26.
That would signal a market pricing in a larger two-way range rather than a one-way directional move.

6. Trader Focus

  • Spot trend repair has now become an upside extension, with the full EMA stack intact beneath price.
  • 30OCT26 is now the key medium-Tenor bucket rollup anchor, so Tenor bucket rollup rebalancing is the main structural change.
  • Net greeks flipped to long gamma / long vega, while the old vol-suppression structure faded.
  • DVOL is rising and the surface is richer; put premium remains important, but it is no longer the only driver.
  • The 90k call wall, 85k put wall, and the 88k / 95k / 100k cluster are the most important next-session monitoring points.
